Job SummaryThe Food Runner supports food servers, expedites and delivers all food orders to service customers in a pleasant and timely manner, according to company and department standards, and performs job responsibilities satisfactorily.
Job QualificationsPreferred (not required): at least 1 year of experience as a Food Runner, Food Expediter, Food Server, or Dining Room Supervisor. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills; be team oriented, flexible, adaptable, self‑motivated, and able to follow procedures in a busy and sometimes stressful restaurant atmosphere. Must be able to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
Essential Job Functions- Maintain current and accurate information regarding menu items (preparation, seasoning, ingredients, and plate presentation).
- Set up food trays with food items on ticket orders for delivery to tables.
- Deliver food from the kitchen to tables quickly and accurately, confirming orders match tickets.
- Communicate with chefs, cooks and servers about order status, special requests, and food allergies.
- Follow all established food‑handling health and safety regulations, including the use of gloves when having direct contact with food items and keeping cleaning towels in a sanitary bucket.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace by performing regular sweeping and debris removal, ensuring floors remain clear of paper waste, food particles, and miscellaneous hazards.
- Assure that all items and condiments associated with preparing food items for table delivery are stocked in a timely manner for the next shift.
- When there are no food orders, assist the Bus Persons and/or Bus Runner Stockers.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned and instructed by management.
- Cheerful, helpful, and professional when interacting with guests and team members.
- Cooperate with all departments to ensure equipment is clean and available as required.
- Recognize and address guests and fellow team members by name.
- Take ownership and have an "It's my job" attitude.
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Must be able to lift moderately heavy food service trays up to 50 pounds to shoulder level on a recurring basis. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above‑average agility and dexterity.
WorkEnvironment
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as kitchens, restaurants, coolers, etc. Use safe work practices with kitchen equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire, health, and safety regulations, etc. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves exposure to secondhand smoke in a casino.
This is a 24‑hour/7‑day a week work environment with varying shifts including weekends and holidays.
