Courtesy Clerk / Grocery Bagger

Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, Smith's Food & Drug Centers (part of The Kroger Company) is hiring a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. This role is a Part‑time position with a range of responsibilities focused on safe, clean, and efficient store operations.

Essential Job Functions
  • Bag groceries at checkout, ensuring items are secure and customers receive at least five items per bag when possible.
  • Assist customers with loading bags into their cars and removing merchandise from bottom of baskets for checkout.
  • Perform basic shelf conditioning, return merchandise to shelves, and gather baskets for designated areas.
  • Inform customers of grocery specials and assist with product questions.
  • Clean spills, pick up trash inside store and parking lot, and maintain a clean environment inside and outside the store.
  • Handle seasonal merchandise and assist with price checks for cashiers.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to store management.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations, local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of required repairs.
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict in a nonconfrontational manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Customer Service skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
Desired Previous Job Experience
  • Retail experience preferred but not required.
