Job SummaryThe Catering Sales Manager is responsible for selling and servicing catering events booked at any Mesquite Gaming event or banquet space, such as weddings, corporate social events, etc. The role works directly with the Sales and Catering teams to grow potential and current catering‑related business.
Job QualificationsA minimum of 2 years of catering or food services experience is required. Experience in a hospitality resort is a plus. The candidate must be a self‑starter with an outgoing personality who enjoys interacting with clients, has excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrates professional appearance. They should handle the stress of multiple tasks, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines, and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Reliable transportation and travel out of town are necessary. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are required, with basic knowledge of Delphi and LMS Office advantageous.
- Prospect, solicit, and book catering‑related business that maximizes revenue for Mesquite Gaming Properties, including presenting, selling, and upselling catering services to potential and existing clients.
- Understand client needs to successfully execute events from assignment through completion, ensuring final payment on behalf of the client.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients.
- Act as liaison between departments to provide accurate and timely event information.
- Monitor logistical details of each event, making necessary changes at the last minute to meet client needs.
- Maintain good relationships with existing clients to generate repeat business.
- Attend trade shows and wedding events to find new business opportunities, including cold calls.
- Enter accurate and complete information into the Delphi system; responsible for keeping data up to date for departmental reports.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or instructed by management.
- Provide outstanding world‑class coordination and servicing of convention, meeting, and group business.
- Position Casa Blanca and Virgin River Hotels as the preferred provider of convention and group meetings in Southern Nevada.
- Ensure all activities meet client specifications, achieving outstanding guest satisfaction and repeat business.
The work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over uneven surfaces, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting moderately heavy items. It may require above‑average agility and dexterity.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment involves daily risks requiring normal safety precautions typical of offices, meeting rooms, training rooms, libraries, and commercial vehicles. The area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. This is a 24‑hour/7‑day week environment with varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
