We are seeking a Sr. Accountant with Construction experience.
The senior accountant will be responsible for project accounting activities supporting the Communications Line of Business within the Utilities Segment. Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable financial results, analyzing monthly income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows, preparing and reviewing forecasts and budgets, researching and preparing ad-hoc reports, and supporting internal and external audits.
This role will also closely support Operations Leadership, Project Management, and the Billing Team, serving as a liaison with Shared Services responsible for accounts payable, payroll, and fixed assets. It offers a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to positively impact the team by enhancing systems and processes for long-term efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Month-end close activities including WIP reviews with project management for numerous projects.Preparation of journal entries to adjust job costs, revenue, and allocate indirect costs.Analysis of unbilled work and accounts receivable in collaboration with the Billing Manager, actively working to reduce aged balances and improve cash flow.Assist with weekly 17-week cash flow forecasts and reporting at the Business Line level.Report on actual vs. targeted financial results and perform variance analysis.Support budgeting and forecasting processes.Ensure internal controls compliance with SOX and company policies.Collaborate effectively with project managers, billing teams, and Shared Services.Interact confidently with mid-level and senior leadership.Utilize various financial systems including Viewpoint, Power BI, and customer applications.Identify opportunities for system and process efficiencies, including automation of repetitive tasks and supporting change initiatives.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.At least 5 years of accounting experience with knowledge of US GAAP standards.Experience with ERP accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, JD Edwards, SAP).Strong analytical skills, business judgment, and effective communication abilities.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a results-driven approach.Attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism.Benefits:
