Job Purpose

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerned with inventorying materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in stockroom, warehouse, or yard.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors.
  • Study records and recommend remedial actions for non‑usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
  • Review records for accuracy and compliance with established procedures to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Schedule work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Prepare composite reports from individual reports of Inventory Specialists.
  • Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions.
  • Issue written and oral instructions and expedite workflow with team members.
  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Oversee inbound associates in their daily tasks and job responsibilities.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
  • Responsible for payroll validations for all respective IC and Inbound associates.
  • Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in warehouse environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift.
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Inventory Control practices; KPI reporting, coordinating cycle count programs, product rotation.
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access Database.
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
Language Skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical and Reasoning Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide; compute ratios, percentages; draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with diverse variables.
  • Determine “root cause” of problems and recommend corrective action.
Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl.
  • Operate phone systems using keyboards and buttons.
  • Speak clearly over telephones.
  • Work in indoor office environment; repetitive hand motion; extended hours; handle stressed situations.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
  • Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
