Key Responsibilities- Video storytelling: produce engaging videos that tell the story of our transportation projects.
- Social media management: keep our social media audience informed and engaged.
- Customer service professional: respond to inquiries, feedback, and concerns from the public in a timely manner.
- Content creation: write captivating news releases, stakeholder emails, and newsletters.
- Community engagement: plan and execute public events and workshops.
- Crisis management: develop strategic communication plans to handle unexpected situations.
- Collaborative team player: work closely with coworkers and stakeholders.
- Graphic design: basic graphic design skills for creating infographics and flyers.
- Innovative thinker: stay up to date with industry trends and explore new ways to engage the public.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education on a year‑per‑year basis.
Experience:
- Public Information Officer III – 4 years Public Relations, Communications, or related experience.
- Public Information Officer IV – 5 years Public Relations, Communications, or related experience.
- Valid driver’s license (this position requires driving a state vehicle).
- On‑camera, video production and editing skills.
- Web writing/UX skills.
- Knowledge of AP Style guide.
- Clear and engaging presentation skills.
- Effective public relations and relationship building.
- Proficiency with audio‑visual equipment.
- Light work: lift up to 20 lbs; frequent lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Standing for prolonged periods.
- Repetitive motion: wrist, hands, fingers.
- Close visual acuity; extensive reading; computer use.
