Responsibilities- Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician.
- Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records.
- Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by the physician.
- Take medical histories and prepare patients for medical tests and examinations.
- Assist physicians during examinations and explain medical procedures to patients.
- Remove sutures and transcribe notes and documents related to treatments.
- Call or electronically enter prescriptions into pharmacies.
- Prepare patients for X-rays and administer topical, oral, or intramuscular medications as directed.
- Support other duties as assigned to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or diploma from an accredited school is highly preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic, physician practice, or urgent care setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical correspondence and electronic medical records management.
- Experience as a phlebotomist is desirable but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player able to collaborate with providers and other members of the care team.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
The majority of work responsibilities are performed in a clinic setting and may involve standing, lifting, and interactions with patients.
