Salary: $15.00/hr. minimum- $16.63/hr. midpoint (Depending on qualifications)

The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department. Assist with preparation of packets and to provide professional, effective and efficient public service assistance to the general public both in person and over the phone.

SUPERVISION

General supervision is provided by the HR/Civil Service Manager.

  • All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • Screen, direct and assist with customer’s phone calls and public visitors; answer questions and provide information to both internal and external customers.
  • OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and maintain data as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION

    High School Diploma or GED.

    EXPERIENCE

    One year of increasingly responsible clerical experience requiring public contact and the interpretation of rules and regulations.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

    None required.

    WORK SCHEDULE

    The normal work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include some evening meetings and working on weekends as necessary. This position does not require a physical for employment.
