Job PurposeThe Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerned with inventorying materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in stockroom, warehouse, or yard.
Responsibilities- Maintain layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors.
- Study records and recommend remedial actions for non‑usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
- Review records for accuracy and compliance with established procedures to determine adequacy of stock levels.
- Schedule work for special and periodic inventories.
- Prepare composite reports from individual reports of Inventory Specialists.
- Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions.
- Issue written and oral instructions and expedite workflow with team members.
- Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Oversee inbound associates in their daily tasks and job responsibilities.
- Other tasks as assigned by manager.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
- Responsible for payroll validations for all respective IC and Inbound associates.
- Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
- Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in warehouse environment.
- Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift.
- Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).
- Working knowledge of Inventory Control practices; KPI reporting, coordinating cycle count programs, product rotation.
- PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access Database.
- High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
- Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide; compute ratios, percentages; draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with diverse variables.
- Determine “root cause” of problems and recommend corrective action.
- Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl.
- Operate phone systems using keyboards and buttons.
- Speak clearly over telephones.
- Work in indoor office environment; repetitive hand motion; extended hours; handle stressed situations.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
- Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
