Definitive Observation Unit CNA
, also referred to as DOU Certified Nursing Assistant, Step-Down Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Progressive Care CNA in our Definitive Observation Unit (DOU). This role involves providing direct patient care to individuals who require closer monitoring than on a regular med-surg floor but are not critical enough for the ICU in our DOU.

Shift’s Available: Nights

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center - Mesquite, TX

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Take and record frequent vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation
• Assist patients with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, oral care, and feeding support
• Turn, reposition, and assist patients with mobility and safe transfers using proper techniques and equipment
• Monitor and document intake and output while observing for and reporting any changes in patient condition
• Support nursing staff in providing high-quality care to patients requiring close observation in a step-down unit

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.
• Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
