Maintenance Technician

Maintain, repair, and fabricate a variety of machines, equipment and building systems.

Layout, install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.

1. Work from MLS work orders and record labor and inventory transactions in MLS.

2. Disassemble, repair or replace worn or defective parts or mechanisms and reassemble machinery and equipment such as punch presses, shear, lathe, drill press, balancers, welders, saws, grinders, milling machines, conveyors, air compressors and other equipment operated in the plant.

3. Fabricate and prepare new equipment or modify old equipment.

4. Perform plant rearrangement including setting up and moving rack systems, running air, gas, and water lines and other tasks associated with plant layout.·

5. Perform preventative maintenance as instructed by supervisor.

6. Repair and maintain plant systems including air and plumbing.

7. Fabricate or prepare foundations for machinery and/or equipment.

8. Repair or replace guards and other safety devices.

9. Perform minor servicing of forklifts.

10. Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as transfer systems, balancers, robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.

11. Install power, light electronic and control circuits and apparatus; establish secondary distribution centers, balance loads, wire complicated circuits with a large number of connections.

12. Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment.

13. Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.

14. Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.

15. Program PLC's and maintain back-up copies of programs.

16. Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.

17. Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.

18. Operate a forklift or man lift as required; use care to lift and balance loads properly; operate equipment in a safe manner.

19. Operate floor cleaning equipment; perform upkeep and maintenance of lawn areas and sidewalks; shovel snow.

20. Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials.

21. Complete required reports and records.

22. Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision.

23. Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
