Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Preschool Assistant to join our team. This individual will work closely with our lead therapists and program director to support daily therapeutic play activities, ensuring that each child’s individual needs are met in a structured, engaging, and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate has experience working with young children, a strong interest in supporting developmental growth, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Therapeutic Support
    :
    Assist lead occupational and mental health therapists in facilitating play-based activities that promote developmental, emotional, and social growth.
  • Snack Management & Allergy Awareness
    :
    Oversee snack time with careful attention to dietary restrictions and food allergies. Maintain a clean and safe eating area.
  • Child Supervision & Engagement
    :
    Supervise children during play and group activities, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and safe environment. Provide individualized support as needed.
  • Session Preparation & Cleanup
    :
    Help set up and organize play spaces and materials prior to each session. Assist with cleanup and organization afterward.
  • Observation & Documentation
    :
    Support the observation and documentation of children’s progress under the guidance of lead therapists to inform intervention strategies.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    :
    Work collaboratively with team members to maintain a cohesive, nurturing environment. Provide updates to caregivers as needed.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
    :
    Adhere to health, hygiene, and safety protocols to ensure a secure and structured space for all participants.
  • Administrative Support
    :
    Assist with tasks such as preparing visual aids, copying materials, and assembling craft or therapy project models.
  • Supply & Facility Management
    :
    Help organize, restock, and maintain therapy materials. Support the cleanliness and upkeep of shared RSG areas, including the bathroom and kitchen.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with young children in a preschool, daycare, or therapeutic setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Patient, empathetic, and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to take direction from the lead therapist
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Background check required

  • Experience working with children with developmental delays or special needs
  • Coursework or interest in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or related fields
  • Familiarity with therapeutic or sensory-informed practices

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment used in child care and therapy
  • Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, bending, and active movement
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed
  • Adequate vision and hearing required to ensure safety and responsiveness
