Overview

Special Education Co-Teacher/Paraprofessional (2024 - 2025) role at Discovery Health Sciences Schools – Kenner Discovery Health Sciences School. This position supports children with special needs in general and special education classrooms and partners with the special education lead teacher. The role involves addressing academic and social needs related to hearing loss, vision loss, autism, health impairments, language disorders, or cognitive weaknesses.

Candidates with experience delivering a variety of accommodations in multiple settings and the ability to collaborate with teachers and school leaders to advocate for student needs are desired. Summer trainings/workshops may be required. Position available August 2024.

• Partner with the special education lead teacher in the general and special education classroom setting to support students with special needs.
• Deliver a variety of accommodations to meet individual student needs in multiple settings.
• Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to advocate for student needs.
• Assist with implementation of educational plans and supports as directed by the lead teacher.

• Job-related Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience delivering accommodations and supporting students with diverse needs is an asset.
• Strong collaboration and advocacy skills for student-centered outcomes.
• School-related experience is preferred.
• Willingness to participate in trainings and workshops in the summer, as required.
