Military/Federal Facilities Programmer
Join Pond & Company as a Military/Federal Facilities Programmer and be part of the Federal Programming team. You will provide programming‑level cost estimating, space allowance and requirements calculations, and facility project programming (DD Forms 1391) in support of planning and design contracts for the Department of Defense and other organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, analyze, and develop data from client groups, official publications, and guidelines to create accurate programming products.
- Draft DD Forms 1391, perform requirements analyses, write technical narrations, conduct research and data analysis.
- Coordinate with engineering, architecture, planning teams, and government counterparts across the U.S. and internationally.
- Provide quality control for team members’ work and contribute to Area or District Development Plans.
- Travel up to 25% to military installations and industrial facilities; perform physical tasks such as navigating stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain.
Preference given to Huntsville, New Orleans, and Colorado Springs. Travel to job sites, including across the United States and internationally, is required.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience- Understanding of military organizations and at least one branch of service.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Bluebeam, and other relevant software.
- Experience with cost estimating software (PACES, TRACES MII, e4
Clicks, PC‑Cost). - Proficiency in spreadsheet data management and mathematical tabulation.
- Geometric or spatial understanding (reading as‑built drawings, construction plans, maps).
- Basic facility management or construction knowledge for rough‑order‑of‑magnitude costs.
- Familiarity with DoD regulations and the community/facility planning process.
- Research proficiency.
- Excellent workload management ability, coordinating multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail at macro and micro levels.
- Technical writing and communication skills; active listening and probing questions.
- Creative problem‑solving for complex or inadequately defined issues.
- Reading comprehension of written materials and drawings; ability to process large amounts of technical data.
- United States citizenship.
- Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one.
- Two or more years of experience in military programming (facility category codes, DD Forms 1391).
- Higher education, military education, or certification preferred; recent relevant experience may substitute.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft programs and general computer interface.
Compensation is based on scope, level, geography, candidate skill and experience. Starting base pay will vary accordingly. Additional cash incentives may be provided alongside medical, financial, and other benefits.
