Post Office Employees’ Credit Union (POECU) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Collector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for contacting members regarding outstanding balances, negotiating payment arrangements, ensuring timely collection of accounts, repossessing collateral, and handling bankruptcy accounts while maintaining a positive member experience.

• Contact members via phone, email, text, or mail regarding overdue accounts
• Negotiate and establish payment plans in accordance with company policies
• Maintain accurate records of all communications and payment agreements
• Follow up on delinquent accounts and escalates when necessary
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies
• Provide excellent member service and maintain professionalism in all interactions
• Meet collection targets/goals
• Initiate repossessions on collateralized delinquent loans
• Provide monthly report of detailed delinquencies with collection status
• Recommend loans for charge off

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Previous experience in collections, member service, or a financial setting
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to handle difficult conversations with tact and professionalism
• Proficient with computers and basic office software (Microsoft Word/Excel Outlook)
• Organized, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
