Certified Surgical Technician at Harvard Surgery Center.
Responsibilities- Assist in patient care reflecting the needs of patients, families, and the facility.
- Give care reflecting the flexibility in rules and regulations, as indicated by the patients' needs.
- Performance reflects knowledge in all areas of care specific to outpatient/ambulatory care, equipment safety, cleaning, maintenance, and procedures.
- Utilize personal initiative, maintain a steady level of productivity, be a self-starter and a compatible and supportive team player.
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to the Center Director and Director of Nursing.
- Assist the physician during procedures; maintain sterility and safety protocols.
- Possess working knowledge of scopes, maintenance, and care.
- Assist in the performance of surgical procedures and biopsies.
- Label specimens correctly.
- Assist in transport of patient to recovery if needed.
- Communicate patient information to the recovery RN.
- Prepare room, anticipate and check all equipment needs prior to procedure.
- Treat family and patients with respect and dignity.
- Carry out medical and procedural aseptic techniques and universal precautions.
- Meet current documentation standards and policies and complete them during each workday.
- Assist in the positioning of the patient.
- Report changes in patient condition or reports of pain appropriately to RN or physician.
- Assist in Code situations.
- Maintain safe environment for patient, coworkers, and self.
- Assist in par levels and supplies needs by tracking and reporting to the Surgical Coordinator/Materials Manager.
- Contact reps for implants and supplies needed for surgery.
- Maintain logs for cleaning area chemicals and equipment use.
- Perform other jobs as assigned.
- Adhere to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
- Complete annual educational requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report to work on time, and as scheduled with flexibility.
- Attend staff meetings, annual review, and in-services as scheduled.
- Represent the organization positively.
- Actively participate in Quality Management as directed.
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited surgical technician program. - Experience:
3+ years in a hospital or ambulatory setting. - Certification:
Recognized by the state from a technical school. - Special Training:
Management and administration; information management; computer literacy (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
