Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Senior

Your job is more than a job. The Pharmacy Technician Senior provides technical support to the pharmacy/healthcare professional(s) through medication preparation, delivery of medications, and cartfill exchange. Performs technical duties in accordance with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements. Provides direction to new/junior technicians as required.

• Medication Preparation:
  Procures, receives, prepares, packages, distributes, and disposes of medications and pharmaceutical supplies. Prepares unit dose, compound oral, and intravenous medications. Repackages medications in unit dosage forms. Stocks medications and supplies. Follows ordering procedures, restocks in patient care areas/clinics.
• Medication Delivery:
  Ensures product verification by the appropriate pharmacy professional and facilitates the distribution of medications to maintain product integrity.
• Prioritization and Triaging:
  Responds to customers' needs by answering phone calls, receiving and distributing messages, and triaging requests appropriately. Manages time and prioritization to ensure optimum patient care.
• Quality Assurance:
  Conducts regular inspections/audits focused on TJC/LBOP requirements, including product and equipment examinations regarding integrity and expiration. Completes logs for refrigerator/freezer temperature monitoring and cleaning.
• Training/Education/Professional:
  Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Completes all required training, competency assessments and attends educational in-services as appropriate.
• Guidance:
  Provides guidance to new team members and junior level technicians as required.

• Required:
  
  3 years as a Pharmacy/hospital pharmacy technician

• Required:
  
  High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, or Technical/vocational school

• Pharmacy Technician (Required) – Issuer:
  Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (Preferred) – Issuer:
  Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
