• Provide primary surgical assistance to the surgeons during the operative procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery by washing and disinfecting incision sites.
• Use surgical instruments skillfully in ways consistent with their designs and purposes.
• Assure availability of instrumentation and supplies required for the surgical procedure prior to the case.
• Understand and practice principles of sterilization, universal precautions, hazardous materials management to process instruments, equipment and supplies through the stages of decontamination.
• Assist in transporting the patient postoperatively.
• Stay updated on the latest surgical technology, medical terminology and procedures.

• 2 years of related experience.
• Surgical Technology Diploma.
• Surgical Tech‑First Assist certification through The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
