Customer Service Specialist Job Summary

This position performs a variety of routine and advanced duties in support of growth, service goals and profitability for Field Sales within a Branch. Performs routine and advanced duties in support of agents and other personnel. Provides service support for existing insureds and members. Assists in the sale of insurance products, and provides other insurance support services. Reviews and completes documentation for business written in an office.

Provides information to members regarding memberships and insurance.

Job Duties
  • Provide professional customer service to members and insureds. Provide service and information to members regarding memberships and insurance.
  • Provide service to walk‑in and telephone members seeking insurance services. Sell memberships and assist in the sale of insurance to prospective insureds. Assist members with changes to existing policies or memberships, renewals, and provide information regarding billing. Accept payments on membership and insurance. Verify insurance coverage for lien holders and leasing companies. Provide binders as requested. Perform typing and other administrative duties, including, but not limited to;

    letters, forms, cards, rush escrows and evidence of insurance.
  • Develop insurance leads for office sales agents and life specialists.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with all staff. Maintain and open and positive relationship with management.
  • Provide service support for both management and sales and life agents. Engage in cross selling opportunities.
  • Resolve member and insured related problems using discretion and independent judgment. Refer issues which require more authority to appropriate level.
  • Service work tends to be routine and described within sales and underwriting guidelines.
  • Has skill set necessary to handle most complex transactions and basic complaints.
  • Complex complaints may be referred to higher level Insurance Specialists or Sales Management for handling.
Qualifications
  • High School GED Required
  • 1-3 years Customer service Preferred
  • Moderate proficiency in data entry required.
  • Moderate Microsoft Word and Excel skills preferred.
  • Advanced customer service skills preferred.
  • Property and Casualty/Solicitors License required.
  • Property and Casualty Insurance License, valid in selling state - Issued by State within 1 Year Required
Scope
  • Work is closely managed and reviewed for accuracy and adequacy. Follows specific, outlined, and detailed directions.
  • Provides resolution to problems that are readily identifiable with limited scope and are resolved in accordance with standard practices, procedures, applications or routines. Problem/Task resolution timeframe:
    The majority of tasks typically take one to two days to resolve.
  • Under immediate supervision, performs assigned tasks only as instructed, subject to regular check of performance.
  • Individual Contributor
  • Failure to accomplish results can normally be overcome without significant effect on the organization.
  • Contacts are primarily with direct supervisor and others in group or department to give and receive information.
