Accounts Assistant Manager
Location:
Chard Somerset A well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice with a reputation for delivering exceptional client service across the South West is recruiting for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to join their dynamic team and take ownership of a diverse client portfolio. The position is full time, 37.5 hours per week. About the Role As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in managing and preparing accounts and tax returns for your own portfolio of clients - this will be across medical / healthcare clients.
You’ll be the trusted point of contact for those clients, ensuring they receive exceptional service while supporting the wider team and directors. What You’ll Be Doing As a key member of our team, you’ll be responsible for managing client relationships and ensuring high-quality service delivery. Your day-to-day will include:
Managing a portfolio of clients:
Acting as their primary point of contact and building strong professional relationships. Preparing accounts, tax, and VAT returns:
Handling queries with accuracy and confidence. Liaising with directors:
Seeking guidance on complex matters before taking action. Drafting client correspondence:
Preparing letters and documentation for director approval. Billing responsibilities:
Raising fees promptly and professionally. Supporting directors:
Assisting with ad-hoc tasks as required. Mentoring junior staff:
Providing coaching, training, and day-to-day support. Reviewing accounts prepared by others:
With director support as part of your development. Liaising with external stakeholders:
Helping resolve straightforward issues as your confidence grows. Undertaking additional duties:
Supporting the smooth running of the department What We are Looking For Experienced in accountancy practice (ideally ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified) Organised, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools Why Join?
