THE ROLE

Abbey Industrial Solutions are an independent production solutions provider, partnering with manufacturers across the UK to deliver production tooling, automation, and maintenance solutions. We're looking for a hands-on CNC Machinist and Mechanical Fitter to join our Automation Division. You'll use CNC equipment to help manufacture components for our automation systems, and carry out the installation and mechanical fitting of automation equipment.

When you're not machining or fitting, you'll help service DC tools and other tooling that comes into our workshop, supporting our wider maintenance and calibration services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Operate CNC machinery (mills, lathes, or machining centres) to manufacture components and products for the Automation Division.

* Work from engineering drawings and specifications to produce accurate parts to the required tolerances.

* Install and mechanically fit automation equipment, both in the workshop and on customer sites.

* Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly of automation systems and components.

* When not machining or fitting, assist in servicing, repairing, and maintaining DC tools and other tooling brought into the Abbey workshop.

* Support inspection, testing, and quality checks on manufactured parts and serviced tools.

* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment at all times.

* Complete accurate service reports, build documentation, and quality records.

* Follow health & safety regulations at all times, including safe lifting practices and manual handling.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Proven experience operating CNC machinery (mills, lathes, or similar) to manufacture components.

* Practical experience with mechanical fitting and installation of equipment or automation systems.

* Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and specifications.

* Good manual dexterity and attention to detail when machining and fitting.

* Comfortable working independently as well as part of a small workshop team.

* Good communication skills.

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Experience servicing or repairing DC tools, torque tools, or other power tools.

* Experience installing or maintaining automation systems or special-purpose machinery.

* A recognised apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

* Overhead crane, slinger/signaller, or forklift qualifications.

* Basic electrical or controls awareness.

WHAT WE OFFER

* Ongoing training and genuine opportunities for career development.

* A stable, in-house, workshop-based role with a specialist, independent production solutions provider
