Head of eCommerce Technical Engineering

Are you a hands-on technical leader who thrives in fast-paced eCommerce environments? We are looking for a Head of eCommerce Technical Engineering to help shape, develop and strengthen our business-critical eCommerce platforms whilst driving engineering excellence across the team. About the Role Working closely with the Head of eCommerce Development and wider eCommerce team, you'll take ownership of the technical health, stability and future development of our bespoke platforms.

You'll combine strong software engineering expertise with a passion for secure, scalable and reliable technology solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the development and support of our Java-based eCommerce platform and related applications. Designing, building and maintaining APIs, integrations and database-driven solutions. Driving best practice in code quality, software testing, CI/CD and release management. Enhancing platform security, resilience and performance. Investigating and resolving production incidents and performance issues. Working closely with business stakeholders to deliver technology solutions that support commercial objectives.

Supporting and developing colleagues through collaboration, knowledge sharing and technical guidance. What We're Looking For Essential:
Strong commercial experience developing and supporting enterprise software or business-critical web applications. Excellent Java development skills and object-oriented programming experience. Working knowledge of C#, .NET, SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Experience using Git, Azure Dev Ops and CI/CD pipelines. Understanding of software architecture, APIs, integrations and secure development practices. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a range of audiences.

Desirable:

Experience with in eCommerce or high-availability transactional platforms. Knowledge of payment gateways and PCI DSS requirements.
