If you're a CPA who wants your work to support a mission, this is a strong fit. I'm working with a well-established nonprofit Healthcare organization that provides care to patients who need it most. They're looking for a Controller to lead their accounting team and serve as a key partner to Finance leadership.
Why this one stands out
- Competitive pay. The base salary is $175,000 to $185,000.
- Mission-driven work. Every close, audit, and grant report you own keeps care available in the community.
- A true leadership seat. You'll run all accounting operations, lead the audit relationship, and have a voice in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Build and develop a team. You'll supervise and mentor the accounting staff and shape how the function runs.
- Deep nonprofit and federal grants exposure. You'll work with HRSA, Uniform Guidance, and Single Audit, a skill set that's in high demand and hard to find.
What you'll do
- Lead all accounting operations: general ledger, AP, payroll accounting, fixed assets, grants accounting, cash management, and reconciliations
- Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, and deliver timely, accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and oversee financial statements, supporting schedules, and executive reports
- Lead the annual audit, the Single Audit, and other regulatory audits as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, HRSA requirements, and Federal Uniform Guidance
- Oversee grant accounting, treasury, reimbursement accounting, and internal controls
- Partner with Finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and planning
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team
What you need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Active CPA license
- 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Experience leading annual audits and preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Strong nonprofit accounting and grants knowledge
- Non profit Healthcare experience is highly preferred
- Advanced Excel and ERP or financial systems experience
