Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School (NDCR) is a Catholic, affordable, culturally sensitive, college‑preparatory school that provides professional work experience for students from families with limited income. NDCR is guided by the sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and seeks to graduate students who are confident, academically successful, spiritually rooted, intellectually curious, active community and global citizens, and leaders in an equitable workforce.

About the Role

The Principal’s primary responsibilities include:

Catholic Identity & Notre Dame Cristo Rey Mission
  • Work with the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur to develop and sustain the school’s Catholic identity.
  • Serve as one of the spiritual leaders for the school; promote and sustain Catholic values and ensure liturgical practices, prayer, and Catholic culture are integrated into school life.
  • Ensure fair, equitable treatment of all members of the school community and protect the rights and confidentiality of students and staff.
  • Participate in the Senior Leadership Team and the Academic Leadership Team; support integration of academics with the Corporate Work Study Program and communicate shared expectations.
  • Participate in Catholic Schools Network (CRN) professional development and faith‑formation programs.
School Culture and Family Involvement
  • Foster an inclusive culture valuing diversity; engage parents as partners with the school.
  • Lead high‑expectation culture and continuous improvement, addressing equity gaps.
  • Model the school’s values, promote constructive feedback among staff.
  • Ensure an active co‑curricular life for students.
School and Outside Agencies
  • Collaborate with local education agencies on Title program administration and cafeteria program oversight.
  • Work with the Catholic Schools Foundation and other nonprofits on student scholarships and financial aid.
  • Communicate NDCR’s philosophy and programs to public and private stakeholders.
  • Oversee academic programs related to outside agencies (dual enrollment, arts, theology, volunteer activities).
  • In consultation with the President, oversee accreditation with NEASC and prepare annual reports for NEASC, MA DESE, MIAA, and other agencies.
  • Maintain compliance with Federal Title programs and represent the school at CRN, religious sponsor, and archdiocese functions.
Leadership, Collaboration & Oversight
  • Collaborate with admissions, corporate work study, and the President on student admission guidelines and enrollment goals.
  • Support the discipline program in partnership with the Dean of Students and Vice President of Corporate Work Study.
  • Coordinate scheduling, discipline, and overall student progress with the Vice President of Corporate Work Study.
  • Oversee academic reporting and records, including grade reports, transcripts, quarterly progress reports, and parent‑teacher conferences.
  • Report weekly to the President on initiatives, goals, progress, and metrics.
Strategic Planning
  • Collaborate with the President and Senior Leadership Team to monitor vision for excellence across academics, culture, community engagement, alumni engagement, and the Corporate Work Study Program.
  • Ensure the multi‑year strategic plan aligns with the school’s vision, leverages Cristo Rey Network resources, and incorporates current realities and progress‑to‑goals.
  • Predict needs of staff, students, and families; anticipate barriers; and develop contingency measures.
  • Design and execute processes and systems for progress monitoring with goals and metrics.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in an educational field.
  • Principal’s license (or commitment to complete licensure).
  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic, faith‑based education and ability to serve as a faith leader.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a school leadership position.
  • Experience supervising and evaluating faculty and staff.
  • Commitment and capacity to serve low‑income, urban, minority students.
  • Ability to inspire, lead, and collaborate with faculty and staff.
  • Strong background in a rigorous, standards‑based, college‑ready secondary curriculum.
  • Evidence of instructional leadership that creates a culture of continuous academic improvement.
  • Ability to analyze and use data to increase student achievement.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with faculty, staff, parents, students, and community.
  • Background in curriculum design, teacher supervision, and data analysis.
  • Understanding of the college qualification and acceptance process.
  • Experience designing and executing school improvement plans.
  • Commitment to personal and professional integrity and moral character.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
