Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Methuen, MA

Waystone HHS is seeking a dedicated direct care worker to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential home.

Methuen, MA (Group home setting)

Employment Type

& Hours

Part‑time, less than 25 hours per week. Current opening:
Sunday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Compensation

Hourly rate of $21.00. Union member to SEIU Local 509. Position is non‑benefit eligible.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and drive wheelchair‑accessible company vans to transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support individuals in achieving personal goals and promoting independence.
  • Complete daily logs and notes, track behavioral data.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation, as required.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and redirect behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential program.
  • Uphold individuals’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain staff‑to‑resident ratio, manage money, provide home management, and redirect behaviors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in providing training, case management, and appropriate service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community.
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) certification (training provided by Waystone within 6 months of employment).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (training provided by Waystone within 3 months of employment).
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience.
