On‑Demand Guest Advocate (Cashier)
Target is hiring a flexible, On‑Demand Team Member for the General Merchandise, Fulfillment, Food & Beverage, and Style departments. You will create your own schedule, pick up shifts through the myTime mobile app, and work whenever the store needs help.
Role OverviewAs a Guest Advocate you will:
- Deliver a welcoming, friendly experience to every guest.
- Answer questions, solve problems, and promote Target’s loyalty, digital, and fulfillment services.
- Scan and bag goods accurately while maintaining speed and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and support cashier functions when needed.
- Respect safety and compliance policies and assist leadership in de‑escalating situations.
- Support order pick‑up, drive‑up, and registry guests.
- Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard.
- Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
- When guests need assistance, engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs.
- Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the store.
- Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
- Scan and bag all guest items efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with company best practices.
- Work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining guest service and accuracy.
- Make guests aware of current and upcoming brand launches, store activities, and events.
- Know and speak to the benefits of Target Loyalty programs with every guest and assist with application or sign‑up as needed.
- Understand and show guests how to use Wallet and the Target App.
- Attempt every return and follow register prompts, partnering with immediate leaders as needed.
- Partner with leaders as needed to de‑escalate situations and recover the guest shopping experience.
- Deliver easy and accurate service to Order Pick‑Up, Drive‑Up, and Registry guests.
- Maintain a clean, clutter‑free work area, gather abandoned items, baskets, and hangers.
- Stock supplies during store open hours while being available for the guest.
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
- Support guest services such as order pick‑up, Drive‑Up, DU Returns, and maintain a compliance culture.
- Support Cash Office processes as needed, including management of cash systems.
- All other duties based on business needs.
- Enjoy interacting with and helping guests and team members.
- Thrive in a fast‑moving, highly active and physically demanding role.
- Open to a flexible schedule with nights, weekends, holidays and peak times.
- Communicate effectively, use positive language, and listen to guests.
- Focus and remain composed in a fast‑paced environment.
- Attention to detail while multi‑tasking with handheld scanners and other equipment.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Accurately handle cash transactions and support the cash office when needed.
- Flexible in picking up shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays) to meet store needs.
- Respond to contact attempts; at least one shift worked within 5 months of hire.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other conditions.
- Capacity to lift up to 44 pounds and move merchandise safely.
New Team Members commit to a short‑term structured training schedule followed by regular shift pick‑ups through myTime. Target provides training that develops guest service, checkout, and stock‑handling skills.
