Business Development Representative – Granite City Electric Supply Co., Inc.
Join our team to generate and qualify new business opportunities for our regional electrical distributor, serving contractors and commercial customers across New England.
OverviewReporting to the Business Development Manager, this entry‑level role focuses on cold‑calling, prospect research, and field engagement. The candidate will receive comprehensive training in electric‑supply sales fundamentals and will demonstrate key products and services to prospects.
Responsibilities- Prospect and identify potential clients via cold calling, research, and direct marketing outreach.
- Travel to work sites to engage decision makers and explain or demonstrate products and services.
- Research prospects, identify stakeholders, and generate interest through rapport building.
- Manage expectations, overcome objections, and maintain an organized pipeline and activity records.
- Reach and exceed key performance indicators, including calls scheduled, calls completed, qualified opportunities, and deals won.
- Develop skills for promotion into a consultative selling or account management role.
- Work closely with marketing, senior sales teams, and top performers to advance your sales career.
- Collaborate with fellow BDRs to suggest procedural improvements and evaluate successes and failures.
- Strong interest in building a sales career with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Self‑disciplined, organized, and ambitious, consistently hitting daily and monthly objectives.
- Positive, energetic attitude with exceptional communication skills.

- Occasional travel to branch offices and trade shows.
- Ability to perform on‑site/field work such as trade shows and meetings.
Some regional travel required (approx. 30%).
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Entry level to 1‑year sales or professional experience acceptable.
- Cold calling or prior sales training experience a plus.
Competitive wages, first year earning potential $70,000–$90,000, commission, medical, dental, vision, life, STD/LTD, 401k, vacation, holiday, sick leave, and more.
