Public Safety Officer 1st Shift (Mon‑Fri 7am‑3:30pm)
The position is fully onsite Monday through Friday from 7am‑3:30pm. Under close supervision the officer provides emergency response to a variety of situations and incidents, protects people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms, and surveillance cameras, and delivers high‑level customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Patrol buildings and grounds, identify unsafe conditions, and help prevent theft, injuries, or damages.
- Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents for adult and pediatric patients, and active response situations; assist with potentially violent patients and detain individuals suspected of criminal conduct.
- Conduct preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints; gather, analyze, evaluate, and utilize facts and evidence; interview victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects; maintain accountability for valuables/property and evidence.
- Prepare and submit written reports and logs of all incidents thoroughly and accurately.
- Conduct fire extinguisher inspections, respond to fire drills, and provide escorts for staff, visitors, and patients.
- May be assigned to special duties, off‑site locations, or other shifts (e.g., Bike Patrol, Community Service Officer). Will be cross‑trained in additional locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1 year of relevant security experience.
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Required certifications (training provided): CPR/AED/First Aid, Narcan (Naloxone) Training, AVADE/HDTS De‑Escalation Training.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the operation of office equipment including computers; knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Strong risk analysis, organizational, and crisis management skills.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence.
- Reliable and flexible.
Pay Transparency Statement
The hiring range is $22.26/hr – $24.71/hr for union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
