Your RoleResponsibilities of this position will include, among others: interpretation of applicable federal, state, and local regulations; analysis and abstraction of wastewater (leachate) flow and quality data; review and interpretation of available data to evaluate performance of existing treatment systems; conceptual and engineering design of wastewater and leachate treatment processes for meeting client and compliance requirements; development of budgetary and construction cost estimates;
and preparation of environmental permits. The successful candidate will work with interdisciplinary project teams to develop technical reports, construction plans, and other work products and deliverables. These responsibilities will be applied to environmental and solid waste industries. Some on‑site work and short‑term travel may be required.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and help direct work for multi‑project clients and multiple clients. Typical workload consists of five or more simultaneous projects and timelines.
- Prepare work products and review deliverables prepared by others to promote consistency with Tetra Tech standards and comply with regulatory requirements, best practices, and client specifications.
- Coordinate and manage multiple staff contributing to projects.
- Coordinate and schedule milestones and final deliverables.
- Support the work of others and maintain quality control on projects and on administrative tasks.
- Work independently to perform project tasks, design, calculations, and reporting to meet the project specific requirements.
- Work at landfills, contaminated sites, and/or other sites where heavy equipment, contamination, or other health hazards may exist.
- Be able to travel for short duration projects if needed.
- Actively participate and support the safety protocols and best practices when working and traveling for project work.
- Assist with preparation of proposals, including development of scope of work, project schedules, and budgets.
- Effectively communicate in writing and verbally, including in meetings, discussions, and presentations in various settings and to mixed audiences.
- Help support strategic initiatives for developing work with key clients and business sectors as industry needs evolve.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in the design of wastewater and/or leachate treatment processes and facilities.
- Undergraduate degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
- PE license or ability to obtain; post‑graduate degree an advantage.
- Experience in leachate or high‑strength industrial wastewater an advantage.
- Experience with biological, physico‑chemical, and advanced wastewater treatment processes.
- Abstraction of wastewater quality and quantity datasets to develop and document design basis.
- Experience with database management and data visualization an advantage.
- Experience to perform biochemical and chemical calculations as basis for the design of leachate treatment processes.
- Experience in developing process treatment trains for meeting discharge requirements, including Process Flow Diagrams and Mass Balancing, to select and size unit treatment processes.
- Ability to develop construction cost estimates.
