Job SummaryVisually inspects all products, properly separates and packages finished products. Notifies the appropriate team member when quality, safety, or production problems arise that cannot be resolved by the individual.
Essential Job Functions- Ensures adequate supplies (tape, bagging, stamp, labels, cartons) are available.
- Constructs cardboard cartons to contain finished products, ensuring proper carton usage.
- Visually inspects product for proper print and seal prior to bagging; periodically opens logs for close inspection.
- Performs quality control by opening random bags and notifying the Production Leader or Operator of any defects.
- Packs product into cartons, ensuring correct number of bags based on order specifications.
- Seals cartons and applies proper stamping/labeling; ensures stamp legibility and correct code date on each carton.
- Moves packed cartons to the designated stacking area; stacks cartons in correct configuration for forklift pickup.
- Sets aside defective product for re‑work or scrapping, ensuring no defective product is shipped.
- Works efficiently and safely to keep packing bins or stacking tubes clear.
- Responds to product jams, clears the jam, and restarts equipment properly and safely.
- Follows safety procedures when starting, shutting down, un‑jamming, or tying the tail on a Bagger.
- Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP, and SQF process requirements; reports non‑compliance to Management and maintains personal hygiene.
- Assists other team members as required and attends meetings as needed.
- Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping the work area clean at all times.
- Performs other duties assigned by Lead Packer or Shift Supervisor, including training to operate the off‑line printers.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Required Experience/SkillsOne year in a manufacturing environment, packing finished goods preferred. Able to read, write, and speak basic English.
Physical Demands (Manufacturing Plant)- Frequently listens and exchanges information.
- Observes and assesses information in a fast‑paced environment.
- Uses production equipment and/or machinery.
- Moves/transport materials up to 50 pounds; often involves bending, twisting, and reaching.
- May remain stationary for extended periods.
- May stand for long periods (8, 10, or 12‑hour shifts).
- May talk, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.
- Space with moving mechanical parts.
- Indoor manufacturing environment, potentially not air‑conditioned and exposed to extreme heat.
- Exposure to loud noises, odors, and occasional airborne particles.
