Mexborough Health Centre is a busy medical practice with approximately 5000 patients. We focus on continually improving the health of our patients and residents of the community. We are a friendly, hard‑working team who do their best to make patients feel confident and at ease with us.

Part time Medical Receptionist is required at Mexborough Health Centre for 20 hours per week – £12.71 per hour for a fixed‑term of 1 year with view to a permanent post. Salary may be flexible according to experience.

We are looking for a person with good communication, customer service and IT skills. The applicant must be friendly, able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

Booking in patients on the computerised appointment system

Issuing prescriptions

Answering telephone calls in an efficient helpful manner

Processing new patient registrations

Responding to emails

Actioning tasks

Main duties of the job
  • Typing referral letters
  • Scanning
  • Coding hospital letters
  • Communicating with patients, hospitals, clinicians
  • Booking appointments/following surgery protocols
  • Chronic disease recalls and other admin/reception/clerical jobs as needed to support the team
About us

Mexborough Health Centre is a 2 GP Partner Surgery with a list size of 4,800 patients.

Successful candidate will be working alongside a team of 2 GP Partners, ANP, Practice Nurses, HCA, Receptionists, Secretaries and PCN staff.

Job responsibilities

Working on Reception to book appointments and answer patient queries.

Answering telephone calls, message taking and recording of all patient contacts.

Some filing of documents.

Photocopying of patient records.

Various admin duties when suitably trained.

To adhere to protocols agreed by the practice, including infection control and health & safety standards.

Searches of the EMIS clinical computer system, for which training will be provided.

Qualifications
  • Minimum GCSE C (Grade
    4) in English and Maths
Experience
  • Good customer service skills. A polite & courteous manner. The ability to undertake different tasks and varied duties. The ability to work alongside other people as part of our practice team. To be able to work in a confidential manner. IT skills including, as a minimum, a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Good keyboard skills.
