Overview

This position is responsible for supervising the veterinary technology students in the clinical environment while on clinical rotations at the University of MO Veterinary Health Center in Columbia, Missouri. This position is also responsible for evaluating the clinical performance of the student and grading all clinical assignments. This position is paid via a stipend once per semester in the spring and fall.

Please specify which clinical service you are applying for on the application (e.g., Neurology, Internal Medicine, Food Animal Medicine, ICU/ECC, Community Practice, etc.). This program begins in August 2023.

An Associate’s degree in veterinary technology and current credentialing as a registered veterinary technician in the state of Missouri OR a doctorate in veterinary medicine and current licensing as a veterinarian in the state of Missouri. Must be a current employee at the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the director of the MACC Veterinary Technology program to develop course syllabi using the format provided.
  • Provide an orientation that communicates clear expectations to MACC Veterinary Technology students at the beginning of the clinical rotation.
  • Keep accurate and sufficient records of student grades and attendance. Submit grades and attendance records to the director of the Veterinary Technology program by the requested due date.
  • Participate in the development/revision and implementation of assessment plan as appropriate.
  • Attend VHC rotation supervisor meetings if requested by the director of the Veterinary Technology program.
  • Working environment and conditions

    Indoors or outdoors in a clinical setting. Work involves working with hospital equipment as well as live animals of different species. The instructor is frequently required to stand and walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
