Senior Business Analyst, Power Trading Systems, Gas & Power Trading IT

In this role, you will be expected to support the business in drafting business/functional requirements for use by software engineering and third‑party system providers, to participate in the Orchestrade project aiming at replacing the current in‑house ETRM. You will contribute to testing and quality assurance processes.

Activities
  • Business Analysis & Solutions Design
  • Act as an interface to the business, ensuring understanding of business objectives and priorities, and proactively proposing value‑adding solutions
  • Configure the system via the GUI for business readiness (setup, workflow, template, pricing, etc.)
  • Work with the business to define business/functional requirements, ensure business validation of such requirements and consistency with the systems landscape and trading IT strategy
  • Collaborate with the technical team—including software/application engineers—on solutions design and delivery
  • Collaborate with the vendor team for externally managed core development
  • Prepare and execute test plans, ensuring compliance with user/business/functional specifications and IT control framework
  • Work closely with BAs and other IT resources across the Trading IT organization, especially during migration activities
  • Leverage general knowledge to propose business process improvement
  • Operate autonomously and rigorously
Service Delivery & Support
  • Prepare project plans and other change initiatives as part of a team, contributing to the implementation of such projects
  • Liaise with the business on all aspects of service delivery and promote IT solutions delivered
  • Manage a backlog of change requirements and assist in their delivery
  • Provide user support and assist with resolution of incidents and problems
Context and Environment

Total Energies Gas & Power Trading (TGP) and its affiliates are expanding rapidly to support the company’s transition to power, acquiring a range of renewable and conventional assets. This growth increases trading volumes, geographic footprint, and the urgency for process automation—having significant implications for IT. The Power Trading System team will support all power‑related functions with a high‑availability system covering trade capture, market data, risk & P&L computation, settlement, regulatory, confirmation, invoicing, accounting, and treasury functions.

Total Energies intends to transition from the current ETRM to a modern, cross‑asset platform.

Accountabilities
  • Act as an interface between business/users and software engineering teams or third‑party system providers, defining requirements and contributing to the delivery of solutions
  • Ensure delivery quality and realization of business expectations, providing general support to the business
  • Document, train, and share knowledge with business and other IT members to ensure continuity
Qualifications / Experience Required
  • 5 years of work experience in a utility or commodity trading environment, preferably with knowledge of energy markets
  • Preferable ETRM knowledge:
    Orchestrade, Calypso, Murex, Endur, etc.
  • Strong interest in IT and technology, with experience in software engineering and application management
  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously, work under pressure, and demonstrate good communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience in project management, Dev Ops, and Agile delivery methodologies, and requirements engineering is desirable
  • Knowledge of front‑to‑risk system flows and trade life cycles, including understanding of different physical and derivative instruments and their respective risks and P&L measures
  • Knowledge of back‑office and finance processes would be an advantage
  • Educated to degree level in an IT, technology, or engineering discipline
  • Fluent in English & French
