• Maintains a safe environment and follows the Infant Security and Abduction Policy.
• Assists nurses with patient transportation and other patient‑care tasks.
• Cross‑trains as a unit secretary; covers the front desk, answers call systems/phones and monitors infant security.
• Discontinues Foley catheters and medication locks as directed by the RN.
• Discharges patients as needed to support L&D transfers.
• Assists with transferring patients to outside facilities by obtaining medical records; monitors infection‑control practices of visitors and support staff.
• Prepares the unit and patient rooms for admissions, transfers, and post‑operative patients.
• Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients.
• Reports changes in patient condition or behavior to the nurse promptly.
• Provides safe care to newborn, adolescent, and adult patients.
• Accurately takes and records vital signs in the patient record.
• Distributes water and records intake and output as needed.
• Weighs patients; records weights and notifies the nurse of changes.
• Performs patient rounds at least every two hours.
• Assists the nurse with post‑mortem care.
• Provides patient care as directed by the licensed nurse, including enemas, sitz baths, blood glucose monitoring, and simple dressing changes.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification Preferred
• BLS Certification Required
• 1 year of experience preferred
• High School Diploma preferred
