Food and Beverage Pastry Cooks work on a variety of stations in high-volume kitchen environments at The Betsy . Pastry Cooks are responsible for creating exceptional culinary experiences for the guests through preparation, cooking and food presentation.

• Adheres to all sanitation regulations and requirements and is responsible for the correct handling and preparation of all food items and equipment.
• Ensures cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas and efficiently puts away storage and prep items.
• Ensures that all products are stored properly in the correct location, always labeled clearly and placed on the correct fridge rack level.
• Checks and ensures the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.
• Check products for quality and identify damaged or expired goods.
• Prepares and cooks baked goods and desserts by strictly following the recipe specifications and yield guide. Ensures items are in accordance to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and food preparation checklist.
• Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery.
• Place dough in pans, molds, or on sheets and bake in production ovens or on grills.
• Set time and speed controls for mixing machines, blending machines, or steam kettles so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions.
• Measure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or icings, using scales or graduated containers.
• Observe color of products being baked and adjust oven temperatures, humidity, or conveyor speeds accordingly.
• Adapt the quantity of ingredients to match the amount of items to be baked.
• Apply glazes, icings, or other toppings to baked goods, using spatulas or brushes.
