Working Title:
ADULT EDUCATION TEACHER
Location:
Everglades Correctional Institution (Education department). This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position. The incumbent will deliver Adult Basic Education / GED instruction in Math/Science, Reading-Language Arts, and Social Studies through a blended instructional model. This position is not a telework role and requires reporting to the appropriate FDC office.
- Plan, develop, and conduct classes in assigned subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques to assist student advancement.
- Supervise inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records.
- Ensure order and discipline in the classroom, continually evaluate student progress, and administer grades and tests.
- Counsel and advise individuals on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops for curriculum changes and professional development, and assist in budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university; and
- Possess or be eligible to apply for a State of Florida Educator's Certificate.

Non-certified applicants must obtain a temporary State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire. State of Florida Educator’s Professional Certificate must be obtained prior to the expiration of Temporary Certificate.
