The Archdiocese of Miami
- Pastoral Center in Miami Shores, Florida, has an opening for a full-time Junior Accountant/ Accounting Clerk. This role is responsible for providing support within the finance department, performing clerical tasks, and assisting accounting personnel as needed for the Pastoral Center. Position duties and tasks will be in the areas of accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Junior Accountant/ Accounting Clerk performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Functions and
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with a wide range of duties, including analyzing data, and learning about varied accounting activities.
- Match checks with invoices for recording of payments.
- Record all deposits in the bank register.
- List all deposits in deposit log.
- Scan and file journal entries.
- Assist with research, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
- Process Accounts Payable.
- Review invoices and requisitions for goods and services.
- Review and ensure that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare all checks for mailing.
- Sort mail.
- Review and approve 1099 issuance.
- List all checks in check log.
- Provide information relative to the detailed analysis of the general ledger expenses.
- Assure that all files and documentation are thorough and accurate, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
- Reconcile and review vendor discrepancies and inquiries.
- Provide exemplary customer service to employees and others who contact the Finance Office by phone, e-mail, or in person and directs them to the appropriate parties, answer basic questions on Finance policies and procedures, or document their concerns for escalation to the Chief Financial Officer.
- Bind Financial Reports for Board Meetings CFO/Controller.
- Coordinate inventory of supplies.
- Insurance Responsibilities
- Review and manage vehicle insurance database for all Archdiocesan owned vehicles and issue insurance cards.
- Manage, process, and evaluate MVR requests and determine eligibility status.
- Determine eligibility for employment for bus drivers through implementation of Archdiocese of Miami Random Drug Testing Procedure. Process all transactions.
- Provide administrative support to ensure effective and efficient office operations:
- Maintain a filing system for all account receivable documents.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files.
- Scan all account receivables deposits and Journal entries.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Education:
AA Accounting Degree and two years’ accounting experience in a customer-service environment. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree and some Accounting, or related experience. - Knowledge of accounts receivable, general ledger, and knowledge of accounts payable.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
- Demonstrated history of maintaining confidentiality concerning financial and contributors’ files.
- Good time management skills, including ability to manage several projects at the same time with accuracy.
- Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel are required.
- Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
- Good spelling and grammar required.
- Good oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Good Spanish spoken communication skills strongly preferred.
- Must be supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in a Roman Catholic environment a plus.
