We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Assistant Controller with experience in the retail industry to support our growing finance and accounting team. The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and supporting the Controller with key financial projects. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving in a dynamic retail environment.

• Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Support the month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Collaborate with the retail operations team to analyze store performance, margins, inventory management, and cost control.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, providing insights into financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Help with the preparation and coordination of external audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
• Act as a key point of contact for internal teams and external vendors regarding financial inquiries.
• Assist in mentoring and developing junior accounting staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in the retail industry.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and retail‑specific accounting practices (e.g., inventory accounting, sales reporting).
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar systems).
• Solid understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial reporting tools.

• Experience working in a multi‑location retail environment.
• Knowledge of retail metrics such as gross margin, inventory turnover, and sales trends.
• Previous experience with retail point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
