Senior Accounting Consultant – Sage Intacct (Post‑Migration)

An organization operating within the nonprofit / healthcare‑adjacent space is seeking a seasoned Senior Accounting Consultant to support a post‑ERP migration clean‑up and audit readiness initiative following a conversion to Sage Intacct. This engagement is highly targeted and focused on financial reconciliation, variance resolution, and audit support.
This is NOT an ERP implementation role. No system configuration or setup work is involved.
Responsibilities- Lead detailed balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations within Sage Intacct.
- Investigate and resolve a material post‑conversion variance (~$1.6 M) related to historical data, timing differences, or migration impacts.
- Validate opening balances, roll‑forwards, retained earnings, and fund balances following conversion.
- Identify root causes of discrepancies and document findings clearly and defensibly.
- Partner with leadership and external auditors during audit fieldwork.
- Prepare reconciliation schedules, variance explanations, and supporting documentation.
- Respond to auditor inquiries related to data integrity and post‑migration accuracy.
- Support the resolution of audit findings and help prevent repeat issues.
- Work directly with the CFO and senior leadership as a trusted accounting advisor.
- Provide concise updates on progress, risks, and recommended resolution paths.
- Recommend and support corrective journal entries or adjustments, when appropriate.
- Clearly document reconciliation methodology, assumptions, and outcomes.
- Deliver organized handoff documentation to ensure sustainability after the engagement concludes.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Demonstrated success supporting post‑ERP migration reconciliations or financial clean‑ups.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and audit readiness requirements.
- Experience working directly with auditors and executive leadership.
- Advanced Excel and reconciliation modeling capabilities.
- Highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable operating independently.
- Professional, discreet, and confident in high‑visibility, short‑term engagements.
- Hands‑on experience with Sage Intacct or MIP.
- Background in nonprofit, fund accounting, healthcare, or government‑adjacent environments.
- CPA or public accounting background.
