Trust Accountant
We are seeking a Trust Accountant to join our client's team! A Trust Accountant manages financial records for trust accounts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include processing transactions, performing account reconciliations, preparing financial reports, and handling distributions for beneficiaries. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong mathematical skills, and the ability to maintain accurate, separate records for client and company funds.
Basepay range
$85,000.00/yr - $96,000.00/yr
Core responsibilities- Transaction processing: Record and process incoming and outgoing trust transactions, including deposits, disbursements, and interest allocations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies in cash and securities holdings.
- Financial reporting: Prepare and file monthly and annual financial statements, tax returns, and other reports required by regulatory bodies or clients.
- Distribution management: Coordinate the timely and accurate distribution of funds to trust beneficiaries according to legal and trust agreements.
- Compliance and controls: Ensure strict adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal control policies, including the proper segregation of client funds from company funds.
- Record keeping: Maintain detailed and organized records of all trust transactions and related documentation.
- Accounting skills: Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate interest, balance accounts, and interpret financial data.
- Software proficiency: Experience with accounting software and standard office programs like Microsoft Excel.
- Attention to detail: The ability to work with high accuracy and identify routine errors.
- Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with legal teams, clients, and other departments.
- Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple accounts and deadlines efficiently.
