Ever wanted to build a finance function rather than just inherit one?
Not just take over somebody else's spreadsheets, reporting processes and systems, but have a genuine say in how the finance function operates as a business grows.
I'm working with a private equity backed professional services business that's expanding nationally through acquisitions and organic growth.
They're looking for an experienced Controller who can take ownership of the accounting function, bring structure to a growing group of businesses and help build the financial foundations needed for the next stage of growth.
And there's a longer term opportunity here, too.
The intention is for this person to grow towards a CFO position as the business expands.
You'll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the leadership team, so your work will have a genuine influence on how the business operates and makes decisions.
What would you actually be doing?
Initially, this will be a very hands on role.
You'll take ownership of the month end close, financial reporting, multi entity consolidations and intercompany accounting across the group.
As the business continues acquiring companies, you'll be responsible for bringing those businesses into the existing accounting structure, making sure their books, reporting and processes are properly integrated.
You'll also help move the business onto full accrual accounting, improve financial controls, introduce better reporting and play a key role in selecting and implementing new accounting systems.
There's also a strategic side to the position, including cash forecasting, supporting investor and board reporting, and working directly with the CEO to provide the financial information needed to make better business decisions.
You won't be walking into a fully established finance department with a large team beneath you.
You'll be expected to roll your sleeves up initially, build the right processes and systems, and eventually recruit and lead a team as the business grows.
For the right person, that's probably one of the most exciting parts of the opportunity.

What experience would you need?

You will need:
- An active CPA license and strong knowledge of US GAAP
