Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

The Controller role is a hands-on position responsible for leading month-end reporting, multi-entity accounting, internal controls, joint venture accounting, and audit activities for a complex, multi-location organization. This role assumes responsibilities currently handled at the senior finance leadership level, creating capacity for leadership to focus on broader strategic finance initiatives. The Controller owns the monthly accounting cadence and ensures that financial reporting is complete, accurate, well-supported, and delivered consistently across approximately 12 entities and multiple domestic and international locations.

This role assumes responsibilities currently handled at the senior finance leadership level, creating capacity for leadership to focus on broader strategic finance initiatives. The Controller owns the monthly accounting cadence and ensures that financial reporting is complete, accurate, well-supported, and delivered consistently across approximately 12 entities and multiple domestic and international locations.

• Own the month-end close process and maintain a structured, reliable reporting calendar.
• Prepare and oversee month-end financial presentations and reporting packages for leadership and stakeholders.
• Ensure all journal entries are accurate, properly supported, and posted on schedule.
• Review and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules for all entities.
• Ensure accounting schedules remain current and accurate throughout each reporting cycle.
• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for approximately 12 entities across multiple locations.
• Support and manage accounting for multiple joint ventures and partner relationships.
• Maintain and enhance internal accounting controls to ensure consistent compliance with policies and GAAP.
• Partner with an India-based accounting support function responsible for transactional activities such as bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Review transactional accounting for completeness, accuracy, and proper classification.
• Serve as a primary point of contact during external audits, coordinating accounting schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
• Support quarterly investor and joint venture reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
• Help oversee accounting and compliance requirements related to significant investments, including an approximately $35M investment structure with responsibility for roughly 20% of the investment.
• Ensure entity structures, intercompany activity, and specialized accounts are properly accounted for and adequately supported.
• Work closely with senior finance leadership to improve processes, strengthen controls, enhance reporting accuracy, and increase close efficiency.
• Provide clear communication and collaboration with domestic and international stakeholders, including operating teams and joint venture partners.
• Supervise and review work completed by offshore/shared-services accounting teams, ensuring quality and adherence to deadlines.
• Maintain disciplined reporting and compliance across different ownership structures and joint venture arrangements.

• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience in hospitality, hotel, real estate, restaurant, or other multi-location operating environments.
