Permit Technician

We invite you to join Bureau Veritas North America as a Permit Technician in Miami, FL. This role offers an attractive salary/benefit package and a dynamic, customer‑service‑focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide information and guidance to the public regarding building permit application procedures.
  • Review permit applications to ensure all required information and documentation is included.
  • Distribute applications for necessary internal and external reviews.
  • Monitor progress of permit review and verify completion of all required reviews.
  • Notify applicants when permits are approved and serve as liaison between reviewing agencies and applicants.
  • Perform specialized processing functions for permits and maintain official records for the permit packet.
  • Track permits through the inspection process and advise customers of status, problems, and final approval.
  • Handle customer questions and issues regarding permit requirements; refer technical questions to appropriate staff and advise customers of action taken as necessary.
  • May include image documents using small and large‑format scanners and maintain confidentiality of records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with three years of general clerical experience, including a minimum of two years in strong customer service.
  • Preferred candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in construction, building, or permitting; experience with permitting software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of general construction permit processing, basic land development and construction permit requirements, and general permit processing procedures.
  • Knowledge of County offices and functions, land development and construction terminology, and the ability to deal with the public in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Hands‑on experience with desktop computer applications and skilled in the use of various office equipment.
  • Bi‑lingual (Spanish / Creole) is a plus.
