Automobile Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled, professional, and detail-oriented Automotive Mechanic with strong diagnostic abilities, current ASE certifications, and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate must be able to accurately diagnose and repair vehicles, maintain a clean and organized workspace, communicate effectively with the office, and treat every customer's vehicle with the same care and respect as their own.

Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Diagnostics: Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and computer-related vehicle problems using professional diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Repairs and Maintenance: Perform quality repairs and preventive maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, steering systems, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
• ASE Certification: Maintain current and up-to-date ASE certifications relevant to the position.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all shop safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
• Vehicle Care and Cleanliness: Treat every customer's vehicle as if it were your own. Keep the interior and exterior clean and free of grease, dirt, fingerprints, and unnecessary marks. Use seat covers, floor mats, and protective covers when appropriate.
• Clean and Professional Appearance: Maintain a neat, clean, and professional personal appearance at all times.
• Tools and Equipment: Keep personal tools, shop tools, and diagnostic equipment clean, organized, properly maintained, and ready for use.
• Communication with the Office: Communicate clearly and promptly with office personnel and management regarding diagnostic findings, repair recommendations, additional work needed, parts requirements, delays, and job completion.
• Accurate Diagnosis and Reporting: Explain vehicle problems clearly and provide accurate findings before proceeding with additional repairs. Never guess at a diagnosis or perform unauthorized work.
• Quality Control: Verify that all repairs are completed correctly, perform necessary testing, and ensure the vehicle is safe before returning it to the customer.
• Time Management: Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
• Shop Organization: Maintain a clean work area and ensure tools, equipment, and vehicle parts are properly stored.
• Professional Conduct: Demonstrate honesty, accountability, respect, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Current, valid ASE certifications appropriate to the position are required.
• Proven experience as an automotive mechanic or automotive technician.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, troubleshooting, and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to use modern automotive diagnostic scanners and repair equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Strong understanding of shop safety standards and proper vehicle handling.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work professionally with office staff and management.
• Must maintain a clean, organized workspace, professional appearance, and well-maintained tools.
• Fluent English is required. Spanish fluency is a plus.
• Must be dependable, punctual, honest, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
