What You Need To Know

Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits (SGWS) is a North American wine and spirits distributor with a 50+ year legacy of success. The role is a national leadership position serving as the key supplier point of contact and subject matter expert for SGWS leadership and assigned supplier leadership. The position drives profitable growth, distribution performance, and maintains relationships with internal and external commercial support functions while managing the Management Performance Program (MPP) and SGWS share growth for assigned suppliers.

Overview

The role will be directly accountable for a small group of midsize/high‑complexity suppliers’ KPI performance and ways of working with SGWS. It will involve SGWS analytics, PACE planning, SG Proof platforms, digital capabilities, supplier forecasting, inventory management and trade/consumer marketing across the SGWS footprint.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Initiate, lead, create and implement the Annual Supplier Planning Process, including planning for programs, pricing and promotions at national, regional and state levels for the assigned supplier(s).
  • Lead the creation and supplier collaboration for SGWS Leadership presentations, Ways of Working (WoW) maintenance, contract compliance, critical supplier meetings and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
  • Lead mitigation activities for annual and program performance, request funding as necessary and ensure documentation and alignment with the supplier.
  • Develop, embed and proactively resolve potential performance issues of all supplier national programs, KPI's, new product launches, inventory management, priority activities and scorecards in line with the PACE planning process.
  • Plan supplier programs, pricing and promotions for all regions, manage accurate deployment and track execution.
  • Communicate proactively with the Supplier Insights team and SGWS regional and state teams.
  • Collaborate with the Insights and Strategy team to resolve data discrepancies and negotiate up‑to‑date goals and reporting in alignment with the supplier.
  • Provide guidance on the management and use of supplier marketing funds and accounts receivable with the SGWS Finance team.
  • Support contractual compliance for the inventory of assigned suppliers.
  • Collaborate on trade development, marketing and digital capabilities, creating innovative supplier programs, ensuring full engagement from regional and state commercial teams, and managing allocations and shipment commitments with SCM.
  • Serve as the national supplier contact for support, facilitation and implementation of digital enablement initiatives.
  • Educate and facilitate supplier adoption of SG Proof, eCommerce and SG Proof Marketing solutions.
Additional Primary Responsibilities
  • Create and implement innovative supplier programs by customer channel to meet strategic and SGWS‑aligned growth needs.
  • Oversee allocation, tranches and correct sale of product by channel.
  • Collaborate with marketing entities to produce annual consumer marketing plans that drive brand awareness and demand.
  • Provide actionable insights on packaging, innovation, point‑of‑sale materials and optimization of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of supplier/distributor management experience in the wine & spirits industry.
  • Experience managing cross‑functional teams and building relationships.
  • Strong understanding of insights and analytics to drive customer‑focused growth plans.
  • Experience with channel management, pricing and marketing plan deployment.
  • Proficient with digital platforms, including SG Proof and social media.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management.
  • Critical thinking, problem‑solving, communication and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and drive organizational change.
Physical Demands
  • Primarily sitting and typing; occasional walking, bending, reaching, standing and stooping.
  • May require lifting up to 20 lbs; extended hours, travel and weekend communication.
  • Critical nature of the role requires prompt communication.
