Position: CHILDCARE CENTER TEACHER SUBSTITUTES - ON CALL

POSITION: CHILDCARE CENTER SUBSTITUTES (ON CALL) LOCATIONS:
Miami-Dade (Downtown Area – covers 2 sites within a 1 mile radius, ZIP 33128) WHEN:
Monday–Friday, 8‑hour shifts on call as needed (shifts begin 7:30 am or 8:30 am) RATE OF PAY: $16.50 per hour

RECIPIENTS MUST HAVE: DCF Child Care 45‑hour training (completed or awaiting competency exam), high‑school diploma or GED, and essential certifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist teachers with daily learning activities, nurture children, manage classroom equipment and supplies, and foster supportive relationships with infants, toddlers, and parents. Implement developmentally appropriate routines and curriculum while covering assigned classroom(s).

  • Plan and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate care for infants and toddlers in a center‑based setting.
  • Coordinate community resources to enrich the learning environment.
  • Support the program philosophy that parents are the primary educators and nurturers of their children.
  • Enhance parent–child relationships by encouraging parent participation.
  • Oversee and assist with classroom cleanup and follow universal precautions daily.
  • Assist children in transitioning at the beginning and end of each day and during field trips.
  • Maintain program standards regarding confidentiality and professional boundaries.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • DCF 45‑hour child‑care training (completed or awaiting competency exam).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Red Cross First Aid & CPR certificate.
  • Certificate of good health and completed TB test.
  • 15 hours in‑service training annually thereafter.
  • Level 2 criminal background check (electronic fingerprinting) and drug test.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • 18‑month contingency with the opportunity to progress to a regular job; must be willing to complete CDA coursework paid by the funder while employed as a substitute after the introductory period.
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Typical 8‑hour shift, day shift ending at 5:30 pm.
  • Monday to Friday only.
EDUCATION
  • High school or equivalent (required).
  • DCF childcare courses (45 hours) (required).
