Community Asphalt, founded in 1980 as an asphalt paving contractor, based in Miami, Florida, and part of OHLA USA since 2006, has since become specialized in general road construction and transportation infrastructure. From its four operation and plant facilities in Miami-Dade, Fort Myers, Vero Beach and West Palm Beach, the company boasts extensive geographic coverage throughout South Florida, focusing on all aspects of transportation infrastructure development, primarily for state and local authorities.

Community Asphalt continues to provide traditional paving services which include grading and paving, pavement milling, surveying, excavation, on and off-road hauling, drainage, utilities, base finishing, and highway sweeping. The company also provides engineering, contracting, design and build and finance and more complex PPP contract services. These projects include parking lots, industrial and retail complexes, road and highway construction, and airport runways.

Our company has an immediate opening for a skilled and dedicated Equipment Operator in Vero Beach, FL. The Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery used in the construction of roadways, sidewalks, and other infrastructure projects. This role requires proficiency in handling equipment such as front‑end loaders, motor graders, Gradalls, rollers, excavators, and skid steers. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

• Equipment Operation
  • Operate heavy equipment, including front‑end loaders, motor graders, Gradalls, rollers, excavators, and skid steers.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Safely maneuver equipment in tight spaces and on uneven terrain.
• Construction Activities
  • Assist in the construction of roadways, sidewalks, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Grade and level surfaces to specified requirements.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials as needed.
  • Assist with excavation, trenching, and back filling operations.
• Safety and Compliance
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Follow project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Team Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with other crew members to complete projects efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress and any issues encountered.
  • Assist with manual labor tasks as required to support the team.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Proven experience as an equipment operator in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in operating front-end loaders, rollers, excavators, motor graders, and skid steers.
• Knowledge of construction procedures, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor tasks.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical test and background check.

  : 7 am‑5 pm — Flexible and as needed.
