NOVA Construction Management is a high-performing, small general contractor and a division of Hernandez Construction, an industrial contractor focused on large warehouse, cold storage, and manufacturing projects across South Florida. NOVA specializes in industrial and commercial interior buildouts—to include distribution centers, cold storage tenant improvements, and office/retail buildouts inside larger industrial parks—typically ranging from 50,000 to 800,000 SF. Because we’re a smaller, fast-growing group, field staff see the full project lifecycle instead of being siloed by trade.

The Construction Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent with day-to-day field operations on industrial and commercial interior buildouts. This role is designed for someone with solid field experience (foreman, lead carpenter, field engineer) who wants to grow into a full Superintendent role while gaining direct exposure to scheduling, coordination, safety, and quality control.

• Assist the Superintendent with daily jobsite management and coordination of all trades.
• Help develop and maintain 2–3 week look‑ahead schedules and track field progress against milestones.
• Conduct regular site walks to monitor safety, cleanliness, and quality of work.
• Support enforcement of site safety plans, toolbox talks, and OSHA/NOVA requirements.
• Coordinate inspections with city and county officials and track required follow‑up items.
• Help manage material deliveries, laydown areas, and site logistics.
• Capture daily reports, photos, and manpower logs in Procore or similar platforms.
• Assist with punch list creation and completion in coordination with the Superintendent and Project Manager.
• Help communicate field conditions, constraints, and RFIs back to the office team.

• 2–5 years of commercial or industrial construction field experience (GC or major subcontractor).
• Prior experience as a foreman, lead, field engineer, or strong carpenter/crew leader is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of basic construction means and methods, sequencing, and site safety.
• Comfortable with basic technology: email, smartphone apps, and platforms like Procore for daily reports and photos.
• Strong communication skills and a professional, team-focused attitude.
• Willingness to work on active jobsites throughout South Florida.

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; NOVA is not able to provide visa sponsorship.
• This is an on-site, field-based position. Candidates must already reside in the South Florida area and be able to reliably commute to job sites; relocation assistance is not available.
