Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Part‑time as Needed Construction Inspector to join our Construction Management Team in South Florida. The position is on a part‑time as needed (PTAN) basis, meaning hours assigned will vary depending on workload. This is ideal for an individual looking for flexibility with occasional full‑time engagement.
The Construction Inspector will utilize expertise in construction inspection, field management, QA/QC, and report documentation on municipal water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, SCADA, electrical, civil, or other construction projects. The Inspector will report to the Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors.
Role AccountabilitiesThe Construction Inspector will observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors, perform punch list inspections, review drawings and specifications and other technical documents, prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos, and participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews.
Other Responsibilities- Maintain quality assurance requirements and monitor code compliance issues.
- Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; inform the contractor of required corrections.
- Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions.
- Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates, and project site coordination meetings.
- Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, time and material work, and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
- Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes.
- Maintain payment quantity documentation.
- Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities.
- Ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met during daily inspections.
- Travel locally for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, and construction oversight.
Required Qualifications
5 years of mechanical/civil/utility construction inspection experience.
Key Skills/AttributesIdentifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions; high math aptitude; ability to multi‑task and manage time; proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook). This position requires working year‑round in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications8+ years of civil/utility construction inspection experience; experience with structural/mechanical/electrical construction inspection activities on infrastructure projects; NASSCO ITCP / PACP certifications, ACI or NICET certifications, OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training; active participation in a regional or national professional association.
