Associate Professor of Clinical - Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Anatomic

Requirements
  • M.D. or D.O., board‑certified or board‑eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both. Additional board certifications desirable.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong general knowledge in Surgical Pathology, including intraoperative evaluations, and in pathology subspecialties such as hematopathology, anatomic pathology, and laboratory medicine.
  • Ability to enhance communication and relationships in a diverse professional workforce.
  • Experience with methods, tools, and measurements for quality improvement in a team‑based model.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards of JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA.
  • Ability to work independently and make reliable recommendations and diagnoses in patient care.
  • Knowledge of all hospital and service procedures and policies regarding hazardous material management, biohazard exposure, and the use of universal precautions.
Job Responsibilities (Include but not limited to)
  • Patient care services for UMH, JMH, satellites, and SCCC; responsibilities focused on assigned specialty or specialties.
  • Gross description, photographing specimens when indicated, tissue sampling, microscopic examination of surgical specimens, reporting findings, and verifying coding diagnosis.
  • Performing frozen section diagnoses and autopsies in a timely manner.
  • 24‑hour call coverage according to assigned division(s).
  • Service productivity per departmental compensation plan.
  • Participate in educational activities for pathology residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Collaborate on basic/clinical or applied research, seek sponsored program funding.
  • Daily quality assurance and participation in hospital committees and working groups.
  • Maintain high standards for JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation.
